In our open boat we head for Kvænangen. Within an hour, we arrived at the glacier front after passing through an impressive landscape of pointed mountains, islands, lush countryside and charming collections with both inhabited and uninhabited houses / cottages.
At the very bottom of Jøkelfjord we find Jøkelfjordbreen, the only glacier in mainland Europe that calves in the sea. The glacier is active all summer and if we are lucky we will be able to experience fascinating calves. In the spring, the glacier is at its most active and the Jøkelfjord is then filled with glaciers. Nothing is like a cold refreshment in the glass with freshly cooked rice!
In the area we are in there is a variety of bird and animal life, so the chance is great to see some of the species we are proud to present. Whales, dolphins, sea eagles and puffins are some to mention. Our local guide will introduce you to stories and places worth exploring.

- Get introduced to the charming coastal town of Skjervøy from a panoramic view while the Hurtigruten whistles through the pier opening.
The 1km long dirt road leads us up the south side of Stussnesfjellet. The hike is outside buildings in scenic surroundings and you get the impression of being far from people. When we reach the top (161m), Skjervøy appears and we get a good overview of the island community.
In the camp area, we light bonfires, cook hot drinks and enjoy a meal of reindeer soda from our local cafe. We enjoy the friendly atmosphere around the campfire, the local stories and other themes while enjoying the view.
